Authorizing District Energy St. Paul, Inc. to extend use of its fiber optic network to the Public Housing Agency sites.

WHEREAS, District Energy, pursuant to Section 1. of its Hot Water Franchise (Ordinance No. 07-1108, §§ 1 and 2, adopted December 12, 2007 and Ordinance 13-45, § 1, adopted September 25, 2013), was granted a franchise by the City of Saint Paul to operate a fiber optic network for use by District Energy and governmental use by the City of Saint Paul, the State of Minnesota, the county of Ramsey, and by other governmental entities as may be approved by City Council resolution;
WHEREAS, the Public Housing Agency of the City of Saint Paul desires to utilize District Energy’s fiber in exchange for District Energy installing radio monitoring equipment on the Public Housing Agency’s property for the purpose of monitoring District Energy’s heating and cooling system; now therefor be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby approves the extension of fiber optic service from District Energy to the Public Housing Agency and all PHA sites of the City of Saint Paul.
