Creating the Victoria Park Universal Play Park Design and Fundraising Committee and naming the members.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is committed to design and later construct a 5-acre Universal Play Park (also sometimes called a fully adaptive playground) in Victoria Park on Saint Paul's West End; and

WHEREAS, funding for the initial design phase will be included in Saint Paul's 2016 capital improvement budget, with plans to fully fund construction in 2017; and

WHEREAS, the Universal Play Park shall be designed throughout to fully accommodate children and adults with disabilities and their able-bodied siblings and friends so that children, regardless of abilities, can all play fully and freely together in one location; and

WHEREAS, the capital improvement budget anticipates a community-led fundraising effort to fund any anticipated gaps in fully financing the Universal Play Park, and supporters of the handicapped community in Saint Paul have stepped forward to donate their time and expertise to make this dream come true by serving on a Victoria Park Universal Play Park Design and Fundraising Committee; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council creates a Victoria Park Universal Play Park Design and Fundraising Committee with the goal of ensuring that a truly fully adaptive design is completed and that sufficient resources are available to complete work on the playground, and requires a report to the City Council within one year from the date of passage of this resolution; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following community members are hereby appointed to serve on the Victoria Park Universal Play Park Design and Fundraising Committee : Dave Thune, Chris Tolbert, John Curry, Patrick Harris, John Marshall, Alyssa Wetzel-Moore, Renee Pritzker, Seamus O'Meara, Scott Burns, Marit Brock, and Jonathan Weinhagen; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the staff of the City of Saint Paul's Parks and Recreation Departm...
