Title

Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept a $100,000 grant from the McKnight Foundation and to amend the 2015 financing and spending plan in the Department of Planning and Economic Development Grants Fund to reflect the grant plus estimated interest earned on the grant funds advanced.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has authorized the 8-80 Vitality fund to invest $40 million in infrastructure and other projects designed to promote economic development by increasing activity and vitality on our streets and public spaces throughout the City; and

 

WHEREAS, the McKnight Foundation wishes to award $100,000 to the City of Saint Paul to support the 8-80 Vitality Initiative implementation; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant funds will be advanced and must be used solely for the purposes described in the grant award; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant funds will support 8-80 Vitality Initiative implementation with capacity building support of staff and stakeholders, communications, outreach and engagement around 8-80 principles, and a Ford Site traffic study to enhance inclusion of 8-80 principles in the Ford Site planning; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation grant funds of $100,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2015 budget; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Planning and Economic to accept this grant to support implementation of the 8-80 Vitality Initiative; and be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, that a total of $100,000 is available for appropriation in the City of Saint Paul Department of Planning and Economic Development Grants Fund, and said budget, as heretofore adopted by the Council is hereby further amended as indicated in the attached fiscal analysis form.
