Authorizing the Fire Department to accept the 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase turnout gear, turnout gear washers and dryers, and provide training for firefighters.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has applied for and received a grant of $1,562,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program which has a federal share of $1,405,800 and a 10% matching fund contribution of $156,200, and
WHEREAS, this grant will be used to purchase turnout gear washers and dryers, installation costs for the washers and dryers, turnout gear for firefighters, and provide training, and
WHEREAS, this is a regional grant that will be shared between the Saint Paul Fire Department and the Minneapolis Fire Department and the Saint Paul Fire Department will be the fiscal agent of this grant, and
WHEREAS, federal law requires a 10% matching fund contribution which will be met with $103,600 from the Saint Paul Fire Department and $52,600 from the Minneapolis Fire Department, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this grant.
