Accepting the gift of travel expenses and lodging from the National League of Cities for Mayor's Education Director Jane Eastwood to attend the Education Policy Advisors Network in Baltimore, MD on June 1-3, 2015.

WHEREAS, the Education Policy Advisors Network (EPAN) of the National League of Cities has convened a meeting and invited Mayor's office staff member, Jane Eastwood, to participate; and
WHEREAS, the EPAN network will meet on June 1-3 in Baltimore, MD, and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities has offered to pay for the flight, transportation, hotel and meal accommodations to enable Jane Eastwood to participate in the meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the meeting will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Mayor's staff the opportunity to meet with representatives of cities throughout the country and discuss strategies for encouraging innovation in education policy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of airfare/baggage at a cost not to exceed a total of $1,600 for three nights hotel, six meals (these items totaling approximately $890 paid directly by NLC) plus dinners, taxi, airfare and baggage (these items to be reimbursed not to exceed $710) for Jane Eastwood, and thanks the National League of Cities for its generous gift.
