Amending the 2015 financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation Grants and Aid Budget in the amount of $10,990, and accepting a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Department of Natural Resources to develop an archery range at 1200 Warner Road.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to developing new recreation opportunities for the residents of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the sport of archery is fast becoming a popular sport and recreation activity across the state of Minnesota with over 100,000 youth participating in the Archery in Schools Program; and

WHEREAS, archery provides a recreation opportunity for youth that offers non-traditional competition, encourages individual excellence, and promotes outdoor participation; and

WHEREAS, the life-long sport of hunting is intrinsic to the State of Minnesota, and the Department of Natural Resources prides itself on the development of bow hunting opportunities for all people; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources offered a grant program to help municipalities develop new archery ranges that will encourage participation in archery; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources has selected the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation to receive a grant of $10,000 to develop an archery range located at 1200 Warner Rd.; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has identified $10,990 in its Operations and Recreation Services budgets at the required match to satisfy the DNR grant requirements; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking approval to accept this grant and wishes to increase the financing and spending authority in its Grant and Aid fund to accurately reflect this additional revenue and spending; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $10,...
