Approving the acceptance of the donation of facility expenses as well as volunteer artist talent by local artists, for Mayor Chris Coleman's State of the City Address.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Mayor Coleman's annual State of the City Address is scheduled on April 16, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and its partner organizations the Minnesota Opera, the Schubert Club, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra are celebrating the grand opening of the new Concert Hall with a series called "Rock the Ordway" and have offered to donate use of the Concert Hall for the State of the City Address at no charge, with support from the Inauguration fund; and
WHEREAS, a host of local artists including, Solomon Parham, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Heiruspecs, Jeremy Messersmith, Dem Atlas, and Chastity Brown have volunteered to perform at the event; and
WHEREAS,  use of the Concert Hall will bring attention to the new facility and will highlight the emphasis on the arts in Saint Paul,  and the donation of performances by local artists will further showcase the many artistic opportunities afforded by the City; and
WHEREAS,  the City Council finds that the donation of the Concert Hall space and the artist performances for the State of the City address, which is valued at approximately $10,000,  will be consistent with the spirit and purpose of the event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,  that the City Council accepts the donation of the facility expenses and the artist performances and thanks the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera, the Schubert Club,  the Saint Paul Inauguration Fund, Solomon Parham, Chastity Brown, Heiruspecs, Dem Atlas, and Jeremy Messersmith.
