Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept an in-kind donation valued at $450 to perform a single foliage treatment on specific trees in the Japanese Garden located at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.

WHEREAS, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has large Austrian pines located within their Japanese Garden that have a diseased condition called Diplodia top blight; and
WHEREAS, treatment for Diplodia top blight is a foliar application done in three steps annually to help suppress the progress of the condition; and
WHEREAS, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is in agreement with Bartlett Tree Experts to provide a preventative treatment plan for large specimen pines in the Japanese Garden; and
WHEREAS, the Bartlett Tree Experts have offered to donate the cost of the third annual treatment valued at $450; now, therefore be it,
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation of the cost of the third treatment for diseased trees located in the Japanese Garden and thanks the Bartlett Tree Experts for its generous gift.
