Accepting the gift of reimbursement for travel expenses for Mayor Coleman and Director of Arts and Culture Joe Spencer to attend the New Orleans Jazz Festival from April 8-13, 2015.

WHEREAS, the French Quarter Jazz Festival, a free, non-profit, community-run jazz festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, is being held from April 9-12, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Coleman and Joe Spencer, Director of Arts and Culture, have been invited to attend the festival and meet with festival organizers and New Orleans City Officials with their airfare, lodging, transportation and meal costs being donated by the Twin Cities Jazz Festival; and
WHEREAS, The French Quarter Jazz Festival is the largest free music festival in the nation and is a very applicable model for the Twin Cities Jazz Festival held in Saint Paul every year; and
WHEREAS, by attending the French Quarter Jazz Festival and meeting with festival organizers and New Orleans City Officials, Mayor Coleman and Joe Spencer can learn methods for improving the Twin Cities Jazz Festival and expanding its reach and popularity to attract even more visitors to the city; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the donation of airfare, lodging, ground transportation and meals in the amount of $3,400, appropriates it to the use of Mayor Coleman and Joe Spencer to attend the French Quarter Jazz Festival in New Orleans from April 8-13, 2015, and thanks the Twin Cities Jazz Festival for its generous gift.
