Pertaining to Amendment to Lease with Ramsey County allowing the construction of an addition to the Highland Ice Arena.
 
 
 
Body
WHEREAS,   the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul is owner of property bounded by Snelling Avenue, Highland Parkway, Hamline Avenue and Montreal Avenue (the "Property"); and
 
WHEREAS,  the Board and Ramsey County entered into a lease dated January 22, 1973 that permitted the County to construct and operate a community ice arena known as the Highland Park Ice Arena on a portion of the Property immediately east of the Board's Highland Park Water Tower site parking lot; and
 
WHEREAS, the 1973 lease was replaced by a Lease Agreement between the parties dated June 9, 1997, which permitted the County to construct and maintain a second ice arena north and west of the Highland Park Ice Arena; and
 
WHEREAS, the County has presented plans to construct and maintain a multipurpose locker room addition to the second arena within the Lease Premises that is provided for in the 1997 lease, and Board staff has determined that the proposed addition will not interfere with Board operations on the Property; and
 
WHEREAS, the assistant city attorney and Board staff negotiated an Amendment to Lease, which provides for said proposed addition and which protects the Board's rights and interests; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the Amendment to Lease with Ramsey County for the construction of a multipurpose locker room addition to the Highland Park Ice Arena, and does direct and authorize the proper officers of the Board to execute said Amendment on behalf of the Board.
