Pertaining to Amendment No.1 to Contract for Water Services with the City of Little Canada.

WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul and the City of Little Canada entered into a Contract for Water Service dated November 27, 2006, which provided for wholesale water service to Little Canada at a wholesale volume rate of 71.0 % of the retail rate charged to properties in the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, the Board changed the rate structure for its retail customers from one based solely on volume to one that included a base fee and a lowered volume rate; and
WHEREAS, in 2012, the Board obtained a cost of service study to determine what it costs the Board to provide wholesale water service to the City of Little Canada; and
WHEREAS, based on the results of said cost of service study, the Board and the City negotiated a revised two-component wholesale charge consisting of 1) a $7,800 per month water service base fee, and 2) a water volume charge of 65% of the retail rate charged to properties in the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, staff has prepared an Amendment to Contract for Water Service which provides for the new base fee and wholesale rate, and the assistant city attorney has approved said amendment as to form; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Amendment No.1 to Contract for Water Services with the City of Little Canada is hereby approved, and that the proper officers are hereby authorized and directed to execute said Contract on behalf of the Board.
