Authorizing the appropriate city officials to enter into the necessary contracts for participation in the Houston-Galveston Area Council HGACBuy program.
Body
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute ยง471.579 allows two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Department of HREEO wishes to utilize opportunities to purchase goods at advantageous prices; and
WHEREAS, The Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas which has a cooperative purchasing program known as HGACBuy; and
WHEREAS, HGACBuy has established favorable pricing for a wide variety of goods used by municipalities and in order to purchase from the established contract the City would need to become a cooperative purchasing member; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the joint exercise of purchasing through membership in the HGACBuy would allow HREEO to purchase needed goods and equipment quickly, efficiently, and at a favorable price; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the appropriate city officials to enter into the necessary contracts for participation in HGACBuy.
