Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for a grant for $20,000 from the Pohlad Foundation, and if awarded, accept and enter into a grant agreement which includes indemnification language.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for $20,000 in grant funds from the Pohlad Foundation to support Right Track youth employment efforts; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will support development of a new website and portal for youth and employee participants in Right Track; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will support a partnership with the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce for their staff to take an increased role in recruiting businesses to hire youth for Right Track internships; and
WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, will require a contract with the Pohlad Foundation in which the City will be required to indemnify the Pohlad Foundation, the Board, its agents, and employees from any and all claims or causes of action arising from or relating in any way to the grant activities by the City or City's agents or employees; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the expenditure of funds, which includes a promise of indemnification, for the purpose of receiving the grant and achieving these goals has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and if awarded enter into the grant agreement with the Pohlad Foundation to accept these funds.
