Accepting the gift of travel expenses and lodging from the National League of Cities and the League of Minnesota Cities for the Mayor and Mayor's office staff to attend the National League of Cities meetings in Austin, Texas in November, 2014.
Body
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities (NLC) will meet for its annual Congress of Cities and Exposition in Austin in November, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Christopher B. Coleman is the current President of the National League of Cities; and,
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities and the League of Minnesota Cities has offered to pay for the travel, lodging and meal expenses to enable the Mayor and Mayor's office staff to participate in the planning of the conference and to attend the meeting; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the meeting will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Mayor and Mayor's staff the opportunity to meet with representatives of cities throughout the country and discuss strategies for encouraging innovation in municipal government;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses for the Mayor and Mayor's office staff and thanks the Minnesota League of Cities and the National League of Cities for its gift.
