Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept funds from Living Cities for Ellen Muller, Economic Development Manager, to attend a meeting hosted by Living Cities on October 15-16, 2014 in Washington, DC.

Whereas, The Partnership for Regional Opportunity (formally known as the Corridors of Opportunity), is an initiative promoting sustainable, vibrant, and healthy communities in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area; and
Whereas, Living Cities, is a collaboration of 22 of the largest foundations and financial institutions engaging a broad consortium of policymakers, foundations, community organizations, and leaders in discussions to help promote the implementation of these efforts; and
Whereas, Ellen Muller, Economic Development Manager in the Department of Planning and Economic Development has been invited to attend a Living Cities learning community meeting titled, Integration Initiative: Aligning People, Place & Policy; and
Whereas, the meeting will be held on October 15-16 in Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, Living Cities will pay for all costs associated with attendance and participation in the meeting by Ms. Muller, with an estimated value not to exceed $1,200; and
Whereas, this two-day collective impact learning community session will bring cross sector leaders together to create system-level solutions with the input of community voices; and
Whereas, the public purpose is to discuss and share with this learning community best practices around creating Saint Paul's urban core/central city competitiveness economic development strategy in context with our neighboring metropolitan cities; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon recommendation of the Mayor, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the acceptance of the payment of all costs associated with the participation of Ellen Muller in the Living Cities learning community meeting titled, Integration Initiative: Aligning Pe...
