Accepting contributions from 8-80 Cities for Jonathan Sage-Martinson to attend "Open Streets" Workshop in Guadalajara, Mexico, September 26-29, 2014.

WHEREAS, from September 26 - 29, 2014, an "Open Streets" Workshop will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, and will gather and international group of civic leaders to discuss ways to make cities more vibrant places where people can walk, bike, access transit, and enjoy parks and other public spaces; and
WHEREAS, the Workshop will help create a network of change-makers by building connections among community leaders and institutions; and
WHEREAS, the Workshop is supported in part by 8 - 80 Cities, a Not For Profit Organization based in Toronto, Canada; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the Mayor's Office, Jonathan Sage-Martinson will be attending the event as an invitee of Mr. Gil Penalosa, Executive Director of 8-80 Cities; and
WHEREAS, 8-80 Cities will reimburse the City for attendance by Mr. Sage Martinson to cover the cost of registration, lodging and travel of up to $2,500; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the contribution of up to $2,500 from the 8-80 Organization to pay the registration, lodging and travel expenses for Jonathan Sage-Martinson to attend the "Open Streets" Workshop to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico September 26 - 29, 2014.
