Accepting the gift of travel, lodging and meals from the Kennedy School of Government for Kristin Beckmann to attend an urban policy advisory group meeting.
Body
WHEREAS, the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University has convened an Urban Policy Advisory Group and invited Deputy Mayor Kristin Beckmann, to participate; and
WHEREAS, the Urban Policy Advisory Group will meet on September 4-6, 2014 in Cambridge, MA; and
WHEREAS, the Kennedy School of Government has offered to pay for the flight, hotel and meal accommodations to enable Kristin Beckmann to participate in the meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the meeting will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Deputy Mayor the opportunity to meet with representatives of cities throughout the country and discuss strategies for encouraging innovation through the integration of policy goals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City accepts the gift of airfare/ground transportation at a cost not to exceed $850, hotel at a cost not to exceed $700 and meal accommodations at a cost not to exceed $150 for Kristin Beckmann; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks the Kennedy School of Government for this opportunity.
