Approving the acceptance of the gift of airfare, transportation, and hotel costs given by the Kresge Foundation for Wes Saunders-Pearce to attend the Garrison Insititute-Kresge working meeting on Climate Services from May 27 - 29, 2014.

WHEREAS,  the Kresge Foundation has invited Wes Saunders-Pearce to participate in a working meeting of climate adaptation service providers and practitioners to be held May 27-29, 2014 in Garrison, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Kresge Foundation and the Garrison Institute have partnered to organize and convene the meeting in cooperation with a team of researchers from the University of Michigan (UM); and
WHEREAS, Wes Saunders-Pearce will attend the conference and represent the City; and
WHEREAS,  40 service providers (nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, federal agency representatives, etc.) are being invited to participate in the meeting along with a representative group of local practitioners from a handful of select municipalities; and
WHEREAS, The Kresge Foundation will cover travel and lodging costs in full in order to support your participation in this meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at the conference will be beneficial to the City in developing and implementing future policy on the fast growing field and technologies, resources and tools of addressing climate change for the City, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,  that  the City Council accepts the gift of travel, transportation and meals for attendance by Wes Saunders-Pearce and thanks the Kresge Foundation for its generous gift.
