Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for a grant of up to $93,155 from the Saint Paul and F. R. Bigelow Foundations, and if awarded, accept and enter into a grant agreement which includes indemnification language.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for up to $93,155 in grant funds from the Saint Paul and F. R. Bigelow Foundations to support an expansion of its youth employment efforts; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will support an increased number of professional internships for youth; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will help the Right Track initiative staff and OTC build a Right Track website; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will help Right Track develop marketing and promotional materials to recruit youth and employers; and
WHEREAS, the grant contract with the Saint Paul Foundation requires the City to indemnify the Saint Paul Foundation, the Board, its agents, and employees from any and all claims or causes of action arising from or relating in any way to the grant activities by the City or City's agents or employees; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of funds, which includes a promise of indemnification, for the purpose of receiving the grant and achieving these goals has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for grants fom the Saint Paul and F. R. Bigelow Foundations and if awarded, accept and enter into a grant agreement which includes indemnification language.
