Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement with Ramsey County, Saint Anthony Village, the Cities of North Saint Paul, Mounds View, White Bear Lake, Roseville, Maplewood and New Brighton.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement, which includes an indemnification clause, with several jurisdictions, all political subdivision of the State of Minnesota located within Ramsey County; and
WHEREAS, these jurisdictions include; Ramsey County, Saint Anthony Village, the City of North Saint Paul, the City of Mounds View, the City of White Bear Lake, the City of Roseville, the City of Maplewood, and the City of New Brighton; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to protect the public peace and safety, preserve the lives and property of people in each jurisdiction by all jurisdictions agreeing to furnish assistance to one another in the event of an emergency which may occur within one of the jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the general purpose of the agreement is to enable each jurisdiction and their respective police personnel to come to the aid of the other jurisdictions, parties to this agreement; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into this agreement and authorizes Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached mutual aid agreement which includes an indemnification clause.
