Proclaiming April 23, 2014 to be Susan Marie Hauwiller Day in the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, Susan Marie Smith was born and raised on Saint Paul's East Side; and,
 
WHEREAS, Susan married Richard Hauwiller in 1970 and they made their home in the Hazel Park neighborhood where they raised their three children: Jessica, John, and Rebecca, and now share their home with a cat named Abraham; and,
 
WHEREAS, Susan Hauwiller is currently the proud grandmother of Ethan, Abigail, Andy, Charlotte, and Lincoln; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sue dedicated her career to public service and was employed by Ramsey County Human Services for more than 23 years, until her retirement in 2011; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sue was equally committed to service in her personal life, having been first elected to the District 2 Community Council in 1984 and serving continually on District 2's board since that time; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sue has held many positions of importance such as the Ramsey County Capital Improvement Program Committee, Vice President of District 2, Personnel/Hiring Committee Chair, and the Neighborhood Co-Chair of the White Bear Avenue Small Area Plan Task Force; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sue has earned the admiration and respect of her peers for her creativity, compassion, and good sense; and,
 
WHEREAS, Sue has demonstrated a commitment, unparalleled by her peers, and is celebrating a milestone 30th year of continued dedication to her neighbors through District 2; now,
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council does hereby officially recognize on this 30th anniversary of service the enormous contributions made to a grateful community by proclaiming April 23, 2014, be forever known in the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota as Susan Marie Hauwiller Day.
