Proclaiming Sunday, April 27, 2014 to be Kristi Tschida Day in Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, Kristi Tschida began her career with the Saint Paul Public schools in August of 1988, and;
WHEREAS, It became clear very quickly that she possessed a gift for leadership, caring and dedication to the children of Saint Paul and she quickly rose to leadership roles in the Discovery Club afterschool program, and:
WHEREAS, when Expo School was established in 1991 Kristi was tapped to run its new Discovery Club, and;
WHEREAS, over the ensuing 21 years, the Expo Discovery Club grew into a model of what a before and after school program should be:
-A safe and nurturing place for children
-A place where children learn how to get along with one another
and
-A place where a community of children, parents and staff is allowed to grow, and;
WHEREAS, hundreds if not thousands of parents heaved a sigh of relief when they found that, under Kristi's leadership, Expo Discovery Club and Summer Discovery Club not only provided a safe place for their children to spend after school and summer hours but that it effectively extended the learning day and the learning year in a way that made children succeed in school and in life, and;
WHEREAS, a veritable parade of talented Discovery Club teachers served under Kristi and went on to teach and lead in a variety of educational settings, and;
WHEREAS, thousands of children went on from Expo to successful careers in middle school, high school, college and adulthood, and;
WHEREAS, their Discovery Club experience was so memorable that they returned to Expo year after year to visit Kristi and remember the extraordinary impact that she and her Discovery Club team had on them, and;
WHEREAS, although she is retiring from the school district, Kristi Tschida work and dedication to Discovery Club students and families leaves behind a positive legacy that will last in Saint Paul and around the world for decades to come,
