Authorizing the acceptance of twelve Summer Countdown banners donated from 3M.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is committed to improving the educational opportunities of all children and youth in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is committed to promoting and supporting a variety of educational initiatives related to out-of-school-time; and
WHEREAS, children who do not experience active learning during the summer are at higher risk of experience summer slide, which negatively impacts academic performance; and
WEREAS, the City of Saint Paul for the third consecutive year will be promoting its summer learning campaign, which features the Summer Countdown- six simple steps to keep kids active and learning all summer long (5 days of active play, 4 new place to visit, 3 fresh fruits and veggies daily, 2 summer project, 1 time a day with a good book and 0 soda, drink water); and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has received a donation from 3M of twelve five-foot by ten-foot Summer Countdown banners to be hung all summer long in highly visible locations around the city on Park and Recreations, Saint Paul Public Library, and Saint Paul Public Schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the donation of twelve Summer Countdown banners and thanks 3M for its generous gift.
