Authorizing the Fire Department to donate a 2003 Ford E450 ambulance to Inver Hills Community College.

Body
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.02 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code authorizes the Division of Contract and Analysis Services to dispose of surplus city property and sets forth the procedures governing the sale or donation of such property; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a written request from Inver Hills Community College, dated December 5, 2013 asking that the above mentioned property be donated to the organization to be used as an educational tool for students attending Inver Hills Community College for EMS and Health Services, and

WHEREAS, the ambulance may be transferred to the organization for no consideration, and

WHEREAS, the ambulance has a total estimated value of $5,000.00,

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the 2003 Ford E450 ambulance is no longer needed to carry out departmental functions and is obsolete, and

WHEREAS, the City Council's transfer of the ambulance to Inver Hills Community College would provide the school with an educational tool for EMT and paramedic students, some of whom have come from the Saint Paul Fire Department's EMS Academy, and

WHEREAS, the donation of such property to Inver Hills Community College would be a City function, serve a public purpose and benefit the community as a whole by enhancing and strengthening the City's relationship with Inver Hills Community College, now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the donation of the above described obsolete property to Inver Hills Community College, and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that said organization shall take responsibility for removing the obsolete property from City premises in a manner and in accordance with the time line mutually agreed upon with the Saint Paul Fire Department and shall bear all costs associated with the removal and transportation of the designated obsolete property and agrees ...
