Recognizing Marcella G. Schillinger on her retirement from the City of Saint Paul.

WHEREAS, Marcella G. "Marcy" Schillinger began her employment with the City of Saint Paul in 1968 and has remained a steadfast employee of the city for the past forty-six years; and,
WHEREAS, throughout her long career, Marcy has experienced eight different Mayoral administrations and multiple (too many to count) configurations of the department that handles licensing for the city; and,
WHEREAS, an advocate for her fellow employees, Marcy has long served as an officer and executive committee member for AFSCME Local 2508, working to make sure that clerical and support staff throughout the city are represented equitably and justly in the workplace; and,
WHEREAS, Marcy has been a good Saint Paul neighbor, living at her home on the East Side for at least four decades; and,
WHEREAS, Marcy is a woman of strong conviction and principle and has been willing to speak her mind for the betterment of ideas and goals for which she is passionate; and,
WHEREAS, as one of the longest serving city employees, Marcy's forty-six years of service to the citizens of Saint Paul speak to her persistence and commitment to the city;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council congratulates Marcella G. Schillinger on the celebration of 46 years of service to Saint Paul and thanks her for her many contributions to our community.
