Authorizing the Police Department to accept the 2013 COPS Hiring Program grant as modified on December 13, 2013, and to enter into an agreement with the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the 2013 COPS Hiring Program grant, which includes a local cash match requirement, from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services; and
WHEREAS, this grant was modified on December 13, 2013; and
WHEREAS, this grant award includes the hiring of (5) new officers whereas the total three year federally funded share of their salaries is $625,000 (51.9%) and the city's match requirement is $578,930 (48.1%); and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached agreement with the U.S Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
