Authorizing the Department of Parks & Recreation to apply for funding to create a guide book containing information on the natural and cultural history of the Como Woodland & Outdoor Classroom site and, if successful, enter into an agreement providing indemnification for the Minnesota Historical Society.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Historical Society has a small grants program which is part of the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage fund; and
WHEREAS, the city of Saint Paul is eligible to receive up to $10,000 in grant funds through the History Projects - Publication and Research project category; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of Parks and Recreation to submit a 2014 proposal to create a guidebook containing information on the natural and cultural history of the Como Woodland Outdoor Classroom site; and
 
WHEREAS, the primary audience for this guide will be teachers and other educators seeking background information about the Classroom's history; and
WHEREAS, if funded, the grant agreement will require that the grantee indemnify the State, its agents and employees from any claims or causes of action arising from the performance of the grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that  the creation of the guide book will meet a public purpose and that the indemnification will enable the funding necessary; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,  that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to apply for a grant from the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage fund, and if successful, the proper city authorities are authorized to enter into the necessary agreements, which include a promise of indemnification.
