Authorizing the Police Department to accept and enter into the grant agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, for their 2013 State Homeland Security Program grant.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit has been awarded the 2013 State Homeland Security Program a federally funded grant, from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funding for upgrades to existing equipment which will improve safety and effectiveness while accomplishing purposes as specified; and
WHEREAS, this grant also provides funding for training in conjunction with other state teams training for land based and maritime based operations to meet federal standards; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant, and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas E. Smith to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
