Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for funding through the Ramsey Conservation District CWMA cost share program to manage non-native, invasive plants that negatively impact Saint Paul parks and, if successful, enter into an agreement with the Ramsey Conservation District.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation, is eligible to receive up to $10,000 in Ramsey County Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) Target Invasive Species Management Cost Share Program funding through the Ramsey Conservation District (RCD), and;
 
WHEREAS, funding is available for management of non-native, invasive plants that negatively impact natural lands, parks, and open spaces in Ramsey County; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation has both identified and unidentified land parcels containing CWMA target invasive species requiring management; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that accepting these grant funds will allow Parks and Recreation to fulfill ecological principles of habitat enhancement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that designated Parks and Recreation staff are hereby authorized to seek cost-share funding and, if successful, enter into an agreement with the Ramsey Conservation District to accept the funds on behalf of the City.
