Authorizing the Horticulture Department at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to apply for, and if awarded, to accept a grant of up to $400 from the Mid-America Orchid Congress for the purchase of species orchid plants in the year 2014.
Body
WHEREAS, the Mid-America Orchid Congress offers a yearly grant of up to $400.00 for the purpose of orchid conservation; and
WHEREAS, the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory would utilize this grant money to purchase species orchids to add to their exisiting neo-tropical orchid collection; and
WHEREAS, the City is not expected to match the grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory believes that accepting this grant of up to $400.00 is a benefit to the citizens of Saint Paul as it allows for a greater number of orchids to be presented in the public displays at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to apply for, and if awarded, accept a grant of up to $400.00 from the Mid-America Orchid Congress for the purchase of species orchids in the year 2014; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City Officials authorize the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to enter into any agreements necessary to accept such funds, if awarded.
