Authorizing the Police Department to enter into the Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to join the multi-agency ICAC task force.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Multi-Agency Law Enforcement Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA); and
 
WHEREAS, in entering into this agreement the SPPD will join a multi-agency task force intended to investigate and prosecute crimes committed against children and the criminal exploitation of children that is committed and/or facilitated by or through the use of computers, and to disrupt and dismantle organizations engaging in such activity; and
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota.
