Establishing the financing and spending plans in the Police Department for a grant from Target Corporation in the amount of $1,300 for the National Night Out event.
Body
WHEREAS, the Target Corporation, through its Target & Blue Law Enforcement Grant Program has awarded the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) a grant for the 2013 National Night Out; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD will use these grant funds to help promote the citywide participation in the National Night Out events organized in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose in accepting this grant is to promote positive partnerships between residents and police, and neighbor to neighbor. The goal of the city's National Night Program is to build community strength among all Saint Paul neighborhoods that will have lasting affects throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, a 2013 financing and spending plan needs to be established for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $1,300 in excess of those estimated in the 2013 budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to the 2013 budget; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this grant and extends a sincere thank you to the Target Corporation and approves these changes to the 2013 budget.
