Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation in the amount of $20,000 from the Minnesota Twins/Toro Field Rebuild Program, and to increase the 2013 budget in the Grant & Aid Fund to reflect the corresponding budget made available for field renovations.

WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation has been offered a $20,000 donation from the Minnesota Twins and Toro to be used for field renovations; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Twins/Toro Field Rebuild Program and Parks and Recreation have identified the Dunning Softball Complex and the Toni Stone Baseball Field as the location to take part in the renovation program. This program will cover materials, equipment, etc. and then on the date selected for the rebuild (August 20-21), approximately 50 Twins and Toro employees, along with the Minnesota Twins Grounds Crew, and the Toro Sports Turf Managers will show up and do all of the work; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation would use the donation to coordinate these efforts, order supplies and support all the functions of this project from start to finish; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation wishes to increase the 2013 revenue and spending budgets by $20,000 in its Twins Grant activity (860-33186) to allow for the increased operational revenue and expenses resulting from this donation; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there is available for appropriation funding of $20,000 in excess of that estimated in the 2013 Grant & Aid Budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the donation of $20,000, appropriates it to the intended use and thanks the Minnesota Twins and Toro for their generous gift; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, and that $20,000 is available for appropriation in the 2013 Grant & Aid Fund and said budget as therefore adopted is amended as indicated in the atta...
