Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for, and if awarded, enter into a grant agreement with Youthprise to accept $25,000 in grant funds for arts programming.
Body
WHEREAS, The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting permission to apply for $25,000 in grant funds from Youthprise to support expansion of its arts programming; and
WHEREAS, the funds would support work that fosters both increased arts programming for youth in grades K-6 as well as increased leadership opportunities for teens; and
WHEREAS, inviting teen voice in creating content and developing teens as mentors in art leadership roles is new for the department; and
WHEREAS,the Parks and Recreation Department has an on-going relationship with the Eastside Arts Council and a portion of the funds would support ESAC's work with the teens; and
WHEREAS, funds do not currently exist to support this new direction in programming for teens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and if awarded, enter into a grant agreement with Youthprise to accept $25,000 in grant funds.
