Authorizing vacation and disposal of a decommissioned fire station at 1720 Seventh Street East (old Fire Station #24) in Saint Paul.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul ("City") owns a decommissioned fire station located at 1720 Seventh Street East, as described in Exhibit A and depicted in Exhibit B attached hereto (the "Fire Station"); and
WHEREAS, the Fire Station has been removed from public service for an extended period of time and the City has determined there is no longer a public purpose for owning and maintaining said property so that it may now be vacated and disposed of; and
WHEREAS, as stated in the Fire Chief's Report to the City Council, attached hereto as Exhibit C, the Department of Fire and Safety Services is requesting disposal of the Fire Station through the City's public bidding process, with proceeds of the sale to be used to finance construction of a proposed Bay Addition at Fire Station #19; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that upon the petition of the City, as documented in Office of Financial Services File Number 12-2012, said Fire Station is hereby vacated and discontinued as public property, subject to the terms and conditions of Chapter 130, codified March 1, 1981, of the Saint Paul Legislative Code, as amended; and be if further
RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to dispose of the Fire Station in accordance with Chapter 51 of the Administrative Code; that the sale proceeds shall be deposited into the proper city account as determined by the Office of Financial Services; and that the City's administrative costs to dispose of said property shall be reimbursed from the sale proceeds.
