Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into an agreement with, and provide indemnification for, the State of Minnesota Historical Society (MHS), for a grant in the amount of $25,000 to complete Stages I and II of an Interpretive and Exhibit Concept Plan for the Great River Passage Master Plan.

Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council by its resolution 11-2415, agreed to accept the State Historic Preservation Officer as an agent of the City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation to receive Minnesota Historical Society Legacy Amendment Arts and Culture funding for an Interpretive and Exhibit Concept Plan of potential cultural and historical resources outlined in the Great River Passage Master Plan for the Mississippi River in Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Historical Society funding has been approved in the amount of $25,000; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Parks and Recreation Department, wishes to enter into the attached agreement to develop Stages I and II of an Interpretive and Exhibit Concept plan of potential cultural and historical resources outlined in the Great River Passage Master Plan for the Mississippi River in Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has sufficient matching funds in the amount of $22,510 from a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources grant adopted by the City Council on Sept. 9, 2009 for the purposes of planning, design and construction for the National Great River Park (now known as the Great River Passage); and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like to amend the 2009 Capital Budget to reflect the full amount of the additional $25,000 MHS Legacy Amendment funds; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for the appropriation funds of $25,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2009 Capital Improvement Budget, and
