Authorizing the Police Department to accept the Women's Foundation grant award, 'Girls Are Not For Sale', in the amount of $47,500 and to amend the 2013 budget for this grant.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded the Women's Foundation of Minnesota grant, Minnesota Girls Are Not For Sale; and
 
WHEREAS, the grant providing funds to transform police and prosecution practices to address juvenile sexual exploitation across Minnesota, develop a toolkit that consists of protocols, investigative tools, internal training resources, and community outreach materials to share with police and prosecutors; and
 
WHEREAS, the SPPD will attend conferences, provide an evaluation report, and participate in activities outlined in the grant agreement; and
 
WHEREAS, the 2013 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these grant funds; and
 
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $47,500 in excess of those estimated in the 2013 budget; and
 
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the addition be made to the 2013 budget; and
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached agreement with the Women's Foundation of Minnesota; and
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves these changes to the 2013 budget.
