Accepting gifts of reimbursement for all travel expenses, from Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities, for Water Resource Coordinator Wes Saunders-Pearce to attend the Sustainable City Year Conference in Eugene and Portland, Oregon, April 9-12, 2013.

WHEREAS, Saint Paul Water Resource Coordinator Wes Saunders-Pearce has been invited by the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities to attend and participate in work sessions at the Sustainable City Year Conference to take place in Eugene and Portland, Oregon, April 9-12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, the Sustainable City Year Conference is held by the Sustainable Cities Initiative, a cross-disciplinary organization at the University of Oregon that seeks to promote education, service, public outreach and research on the design and development of sustainable cities; and
WHEREAS, CityLabs is the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities replication of the Sustainable City Year Program; and
WHEREAS, CityLabs is working with Saint Paul as its pilot city partner; and
WHEREAS, the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities has offered to pay for travel costs, including airfare, hotel and meals; and
WHEREAS, the conference will focus on implementation techniques, and will offer an opportunity for the Water Resource Coordinator to interact with other representatives and attendees to discuss program replication and sustainability initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that attendance by the Water Resource Coordinator will benefit the City and that acceptance of the offer of travel expenses will facilitate this opportunity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of travel for Water Resource Coordinator Wes Saunders-Pearce to attend the Sustainable City Year Conference in Eugene and Portland, Oregon, April 9-12, 2013, appropriates the money for that purpose and thanks the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities for its generous gift.
