Authorizing the acquisition of a parcel of vacant, tax-forfeited land in Lilydale Regional Park from Dakota County.

WHEREAS, in January 1984 Ramsey County ("County") and the City of Saint Paul ("City") entered into an agreement to exchange then-County-owned property within Lilydale Regional Park ("Lilydale Park") for then-City-owned property within Battle Creek Regional Park and the Pig's Eye Lake Unit; and
WHEREAS, the conveyance of said Lilydale Park property did not include a parcel of land located along the edge of Lake Pickerel (the "Pickerel Parcel"), legally described as Lots 6 and 7, Block 7, Pyramid Addition, Dakota County, Minnesota, and shown on Exhibit A attached hereto, because the property was owned by the City of Lilydale; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lilydale, having no interest in continuing to own the Pickerel Parcel, has reconveyed said parcel to the State of Minnesota, which holds tax-forfeited property in trust until it can be disposed of; and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting that the City purchase the Pickerel Parcel from the State of Minnesota via the Dakota County Tax Forfeited Lands Division, which manages tax-forfeited lands on behalf of the State, in order to complement and enhance the value of Lilydale Park, which the City is presently developing for park and trail use; and
WHEREAS, the City has secured an agreement with Dakota County for the purchase of the Pickerel Parcel for $100.00, and the City's Real Estate Manager has recommended purchase of said parcel at said amount; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of the City of Saint Paul do hereby authorize and direct the proper city officials to proceed with the acquisition of the Pickerel Parcel for a purchase price of One Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($100.00), plus $80.65 in filing fees and deed tax, payable to Dakota County, said sum is to be charged to Activity Code: 720-50087-0881-33000.
