Authorizing the Director of Parks and Recreation or his designee to sign a rental agreement, which includes indemnification, with Concordia University for use of their facilities in staging Star of the North Games.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation, is hosting the Star of the North Games on June 22-23, 2013, and the event requires a number of venues for the various games; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to rent space from Concordia University for use during the Games and the rental agreement requires indemnification; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that the Star of the North Games will bring visitors to the City and will enhance opportunities for enjoyment by the citizens and visitors and has a legitimate public purpose; and
WHEREAS, the expenditure of public funds, which includes the promise of indemnification and defense, for such a purpose will facilitate and enable it to take place; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the Director of Parks and Recreation to enter into the attached rental agreement with Concordia University which contains an agreement to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Concordia University, its officers, employees and contractors from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, and expenses of whatever nature, including attorney fees in any manner connected with, related to, or as a result of any actions or inactions associated with the usage or rental of Concordia University facilities for the purpose of staging the Star of the North Games.
