Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to solicit and accept donations for the 2013 Annual Spring Parks Cleanup event.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation, in coordination with the Department of Public Works, will be holding the 27th Annual Spring Parks Cleanup event on April 13th, 2013, kicking off at five locations, city wide; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, the event is in partnership with the City's Come Clean! program, that works in cooperation with local District Councils and with engaged community members who volunteer to help keep the City clean; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation wishes to solicit and accept donations specifically for this event; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 41 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code provides that for solicitations in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00)
or more, only the mayor or designee, or the council as a whole or designee, may solicit funds on behalf of the city or on behalf of any city-sponsored function or organization, and that the names of designee shall at the time of designation be filed with the city clerk; and
WHEREAS, 2013 solicitations will include requests for free advertising from the Pioneer Press, $2,000 in coupon booklets from Chinook Book, donuts from SuperMom's bakery, a $50 gift certificate from Kowalski's Markets, raffle prizes from Patagonia ($773), and coffee from Peace Coffee ($200); and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation will provide an itemized list of donations and their values to the Council; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Mike Hahm and Andy Rodriguez are authorized to solicit and accept donations for the 2013 Citywide Spring Cleanup event.
