Authorizing the Police Department to provide alcoholic beverages, water, and food to conduct the Standard Field Sobriety Test training.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department Training Unit, Recruit Academy 2013-1 is conducting the following course: Standard Field Sobriety Tests; and  
 
WHEREAS, this course will be held at the Saint Paul Police Department, 100 E. 10th Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55101 from April 9,2013  through April 11, 2013; and
WHEREAS, this training is specifically designed to train new police recruits about the effects of alcoholic beverages on people and the impairment it may cause, DWI Violations/Minnesota Statutes, and Sobriety testing supervised by trained law enforcement specialist; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of this training is designed to provide quality and affordable programming to incoming police recruits by exposing the police recruit to the effects of alcohol on a person of varying degrees of intoxication and to provide for the needs of the civilian role players that will be assisting in the Field Sobriety Testing; and
Be it ordered that pursuant to the 2013 City Budget, the proper City Officials are hereby authorized to remit an amount not to exceed $800.00, to Big Top Wine and Spirits, 1574 University Avenue West, Saint Paul, MN 55104 and to Cub Foods, 1440 University Ave West, Saint Paul Minnesota to cover expenses for alcoholic beverages, water and food for the above mentioned Saint Paul Police Department Recruit Academy sponsored training courses.
