Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation of materials and labor valued at approximately $10,000 from NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services and Mulcahy Company, Inc. for the full repair of the recently vandalized Phalen Recreation Center refrigerated skating rink.

Body
WHEREAS, NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services and Mulcahy Company, Inc. are local companies that provide services in the mechanical, electrical, and building automation commercial business industry; and

WHEREAS, the Phalen Recreation Center refrigerated skating rink recently encountered an act of vandalism and theft of 256 feet of copper pipe used to process cooling liquids to help maintain the refrigeration system at the rink; and
WHEREAS, multiple companies contacted the Parks and Recreation Department to offer their assistance in repairing the rink, but NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services offered its assistance in fully repairing the rink, and facilitating a donation of materials from Mulcahy Company, Inc. to provide "Heat-link Manifolds" to be used in lieu of the copper as part of the repair; and

WHEREAS, NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services and Mulcahy Company, Inc. committed to the Parks and Recreation Department to complete the repairs in a timely fashion and donate all labor and materials for the repair of the rink, for an estimated value of almost $10,000; and

WHEREAS, all work and materials will be supervised and inspected by Parks and Recreation Staff prior to acceptance; and

WHEREAS, the Phalen Recreation Center refrigerated rink is one of the most popular skating destinations in all of the Twin Cities metro area and without the donation, the rink opening would have been delayed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul, accepts this donation of labor and materials valued at almost $10,000 from NAC Mechanical and Electrical Services and Mulcahy Company, Inc., and th...
