WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation has applied for and received a $10,000 grant from the National Recreation and Parks Association and Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation's Youth Boating and Fishing Initiative, to build and sustain programs and opportunities to engage young people and their families in recreational fishing and boating; and

WHEREAS, the Take Me Fishing programs will focus on Saint Paul youth, families, and seniors attending low-cost boating and fishing events, by purchasing needed equipment, to pay staff to assist in delivering the program, and to provide bus transportation provided from selected Saint Paul recreation centers who serve low-income youth and families; and

WHEREAS, the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation requires a License Agreement with the City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation in order to use the Take Me Fishing trademarks which contains a provision indemnifying the Licensor for any third party claims related to the City's use of the trademarks; and

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that the Take Me Fishing programs have a legitimate public purpose in serving youth, families and seniors, which fosters stronger communities within the city; and

WHEREAS, the expenditure of public funds, which includes the promise of indemnification, for such a purpose will facilitate and allow the program to take place; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $10,000 in exc...
