Amending Chapter 93 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code pertaining to materials allowed for new water service connections.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
 
SECTION 1
 
That chapter 93 of Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended as follows:
 
Chapter 93. - Water Code - Water Service Connections (Size and Location)
 
Sec. 93.06. - Water service connections, installations and materials.
 
(a)      All underground services larger that two (2) inches in size shall be ductile iron or cast-iron pipe.  Ductile iron and cast-iron pipe shall meet the requirements of the water utility's standard for the installation of water mains.
(b)      Ductile iron and cast-iron water service connections shall be subjected, before acceptance, to an electrical conductivity test in accordance with the standards of water utility.
(c)      All underground water service connections up to and including two-inch sizes shall be extra heavy soft temper cold drawn seamless deoxidized copper tubing having a minimum ultimate tensile strength of not less than thirty thousand (30,000) pounds per square inch.
(d)      Sizes and weights for underground copper pipe shall be as follows:
 
Nominal Size (inches):  ¾, O.S. Diameter:  0.875, Wall Thinkness:  0.065, Weight per Foot:  0.640
 
Nominal Size (inches):  1, O.S. Diameter:  1.125, Wall Thinkness:  0.065, Weight per Foot:  0.838
 
Nominal Size (inches):  1 ½, O.S. Diameter:  1.625, Wall Thinkness:  0.072, Weight per Foot:  1.36
 
Nominal Size (inches):  2, O.S. Diameter:  2.125, Wall Thinkness:  0.083, Weight per Foot:  2.06
 
The weight per foot shall not vary from the standard by more than five (5) percent.  The wall thickness shall not vary from the standard by more than five (5) percent at any point.
 
SECTION 2
 
All other sections of Chapter 93 shall remain unchanged.
 
SECTION 3
 
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days following its passage, approval and publication.
