Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to execute a web hosting agreement, including an indemnification clause, with Dan Moriarty Design to host the Sprockets website.
Body
WHEREAS, Sprockets is Saint Paul's Out-of-School Time Network, of which the City of Saint Paul is a part, committed to improving access to out-of-school time programs for youth in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Sprockets has a newly designed website which helps families and youth find programs through an on-line, searchable program locator, provides information to teens about youth employment opportunities including the City of Saint Paul Youth Job Corps Program, informs parents about summer learning loss and quality programs, and connects out-of-school time program providers with quality improvement and data collection resources provided by Sprockets and which is in need of a hosting site; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the webhosting contract will be paid through grant funds raised by the Sprockets network; and
WHEREAS, the services provided by the host site, which include hosting the site, providing ongoing maintenance, providing security updates for the site, and other related items will allow the Sprockets website to provide program information, events calendar and will enhance parent and youth experiences locating quality after-school and summer programs and serves a legitimate public purpose; and
WHEREAS, the contract with the web designer for the host site contains an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the expenditure of money which includes the promise of defense and indemnification, will enable the website to be made available; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the appropriate city officials to execute the attached web hosting agreement, which contains an indemnification clause.
