Authorizing the Fire Department to donate life jackets, turnout gear, and fire-related training tapes to Fire Rescue Alliance to support Liberia's National Fire Service.
Body
WHEREAS, Chapter 2.02 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code authorizes the Division of Contract and Analysis Services to dispose of surplus property and sets forth the procedures governing the sale or donation of such property; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a request (see attachment) from Fire Rescue Alliance, a bona fide nonprofit organization asked that the property mentioned below be donated to the organization to help Liberia's National Fire Service carry out its mission, and
WHEREAS, the 22 life jackets, 27 turnout gear jackets, 17 turnout gear pants, and two boxes of miscellaneous fire related training VCR tapes may be transferred to such organization for no consideration, and
WHEREAS, the life jackets, turnout gear jackets and pants, and training VCR tapes have an estimated value of $100.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the life jackets, turnout gear jackets and pants, and training VCR tapes are no longer needed to carry out department functions and are obsolete, and
WHEREAS, the City Council's transfer of the life jackets, turnout gear, and training tapes would provide Liberia's National Fire Service with means to supplement their fire response capabilities, and
WHEREAS, the donation of such property to the Fire Rescue Alliance for the Liberia's National Fire Service would be a City function, serve a public purpose and benefit the community as a whole by enhancing and strengthening the City's relationship with this organization, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the donation of the above described obsolete property to the Fire Rescue Alliance to support Liberia's National Fire Service, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that said organization shall take responsibility for removing the obsolete property from City premises in a manner and in accordance with the time line mutually agreed upon with the Saint Paul Fire Department and shall bear all costs associated with the removal and transportation of the designated obsolete property and agrees to accept the property as is; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that upon the donation , the City shall have no further responsibility for said property and shall not provide and warranty, maintenance, repair, technical assistance, or any other kind of ongoing support, nor assume any costs that may be related to the ongoing use of the property Liberia's National Fire Service.
