Accepting the gift of travel and lodging from the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) for Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED) staff member Anton Jerve (amended to Christina Morrison) to travel to a workshop for TIGER II planning grantees, September 7, 2012 in Washington, DC.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul received a TIGER II Planning Grant from US DOT in 2011 for a Complete Streets Plan, currently underway, and
WHEREAS, the US DOT is convening TIGER II Planning Grant recipients for a workshop, entitled, "Lessons Learned, Best Practices, and Next Steps in the Planning to Capital Process" and has invited PED staff member Anton Jerve Christina Morrison to participate regarding Saint Paul's experiences in implementing the grant; and
WHEREAS, the workshop will occur September 7, 2012 in Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, the US DOT will provide airline tickets and reimburse Anton Jerve Christina Morrison for lodging and meal expenses in order to enable him to participate in the workshop; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul will not incur any costs associated with this trip; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the conference will fulfill a public purpose by giving staff the opportunity to provide feedback to US DOT and learn from peer agencies nationwide, and to learn about key trends, challenges, and solutions in Federal planning grant administration and project implementation; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City accepts the gift of airline tickets and allows Anton Jerve Christina Morrison to be reimbursed for lodging and meal expenses;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Council of the City of Saint Paul wish to recognize the US DOT for this opportunity and thank the Department for their generous assistance for the related TIGER II Planning Grant activities.
