Title

Authorizing the City of Saint Paul to request funds from the FY 2014 MnDOT Metro Municipal Agreement Program for various projects, and making a commitment for the local share of funding if grants are awarded.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul wishes to implement traffic signal interconnect and traffic signal timing optimization improvements on portions of Trunk Highway 61 (Arcade Street between Wheelock Parkway and E. 7^th St, and also between Burns Avenue and Warner Road) and wishes to fully reconstruct Trunk Highway 952A (Robert Street between E. 9^th Street and E. 11^th Street) and wishes to complete safety improvements on Trunk Highway 51 (Snelling Avenue) between University Avenue and Charles Avenue contingent on completion of public process; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is requesting financial participation from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) through the "FY 2014 Municipal Agreement Program" with respect the above referenced projects; and

WHEREAS, the projects will be of mutual benefit to MnDOT and the City of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS the City of Saint Paul must commit to providing the local share of the costs if the projects referenced above are selected as part of the "FY 2014 Municipal Agreement Program"; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City Saint Paul, Minnesota, that the City is hereby requesting funding from MnDOT through its "FY 2014 Municipal Agreement Program" to implement traffic signal interconnect and traffic signal timing optimization improvements on Trunk Highway 61 (Arcade Street between Wheelock Parkway and E. 7^th St, and also between Burns Avenue and Warner Road) and wishes to fully reconstruct Trunk Highway 952A (Robert Street between E. 9^th Street and E. 11^th Street) and wishes to complete safety improvements on Trunk Highway 51 (Snelling Avenue) between University Avenue and Charles Avenue contingent on completion of public process; and be it further

RESOLVED, that, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby commits to provide the local share of funding if awarded grants for projects as referenced above.
