Authorizing expenditures for the Police Department's 2012-1 Recruit Academy events.



WHEREAS, the Training Unit of the Saint Paul Police Department, Recruit Academy 2012-1 is conducting the following: Comprehensive Field Practicals, Two Family Nights and the 2012-1 Recruit Academy Graduation; and


WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Field Practicals will be held on September 20th and 21st, October 3rd at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, Dakota County Technical College Driving Track, 1300 - 145th street East, Rosemount Minnesota, 55068, and other locations not yet determined but consistent with the purpose of this recruit academy; Family Nights will be held on June 12th at The Neighborhood House, 179 Robie Street East, Saint Paul Minnesota, 55107 and on June 26th at the Social hall, Faith Alliance Church, 520 North Howard Street, Saint Paul Minnesota, 55119; 2012-1 Recruit Academy Graduation will be held on October 3rd, 2012 at a site to be determined in Saint Paul, Minnesota and


WHEREAS, this public purpose for the two Family Nights, is specifically designed to train new police recruits and their families about the effects of police training, patrol operations and to avail family members of the services provided to them by the Employee Assistance program of the Saint Paul Police Department, to inform members of the public who will be assisting as civilian role players at the Comprehensive Field Practicals on vehicle traffic stops, domestic abuse and various other police calls for service, and 2012-1 Recruit Academy Graduation Night is to allow family members, members of the public, city administrators and the graduates to have refreshments in appreciation for their attendance to the graduation ceremony; and


THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED, that pursuant to the 2012 City Budget, the proper City Officials are hereby authorized to remit an amount not to exceed $3000.00 to Costco, 1431 Beam Ave, Maplewood Minnesota, 55119 and to Cub Foods, 1440 University Ave West, Saint Paul Minnesota to cover expenses for food, water and soda for the above mentioned Saint Paul Police Department Recruit Academy Training.


A copy of said order is to be kept on file and of record in the Office of Financial Services
